Philosophy…

Why do I do what I do? Because I believe in making people greater than they are. That’s it.

I’m passionate about preventing injuries, improving performance, and figuring out how those two topics intersect.  At my office, Ideal Athlete Chiropractic, I hope to pass along some of my knowledge and passion to help make you a lean, strong, fast, injury-free, athletic ball of awesomeness.

Furthermore…

I realize that a lot of what I discuss is geared toward athletes.  However, any type of patient is welcome in my office!  I can help you get back on the job, let you play with your grandkids, or work with you on improving your quality of life.  No matter your goal, I’m here to help you fix your problems quickly and effectively!

On the subject of me…

I am an experienced Sports Chiropractor, Exercise Scientist, Strength & Conditioning Coach and Performance Enhancement Specialist.

I have been the Team Chiropractor and Performance Enhancement Consultant for the New Zealand Olympic Cycling Teams and for the USA Bobsled & Skeleton Teams.  I’ve had the pleasure of traveling around the world helping world-class athletes fix their injuries and improve their performance.  In fact, I was able to work with a number of my New Zealand athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England!

Prior to that, I was the Chief-of-Staff and Assistant Professor at one of the largest natural health care clinics in the state of Minnesota.

I have more than 23 years experience working with athletes of all ages and dealing with a variety of sports injuries and issues. I have played an integral role in the training and rehab of more than 100 Olympic medal winners and professional athletes.

  • Sports Medicine & Performance Enhancement Consultant for the New Zealand Olympic Cycling Team

Athletics…

I don’t only treat athletes……  I also play one on TV.  I’ve been lucky enough to be involved, and sometimes successful, in a wide variety of sports since I was young.  I believe that being involved with so many sports gives me a unique and better understanding of my patient’s needs and issues.  Being fit makes me a better doctor.

Over the years I have been lucky enough to…

  • Be a 3-time Ironman Lake Placid finisher (personal best of 10:57 in 2009)
  • 2nd in Age Group at World’s Toughest Mudder World Championship 24-hour Obstacle Course Race

The juicy, personal details…

I currently live in Plattsburgh, NY with my wife, my 19 year old son and my 18 year old daughter.  The weather sucks most of the year, but I like to think that running or skiing at -20F makes me tough.  Or stupid.

I also make sure to break a sweat every day.  Personally, I am always looking for the next adventure, never back down from a challenge, and believe that movement is life.  So get off your butt, and move your body!

Philosophy…

Why do I do what I do? Growing up as a year-round athlete and extremely active kid, I’ve experienced my fair share of injuries. With injuries, however, prompts the topic of recovery. It’s always been fascinating to me how well the body can perform with both proper training and proper recovery. Yet, misinformation on these topics is plenty. Enter me!

Whether you’re an athlete, weekend warrior, or someone looking to escape pain and improve your quality of life, I’m here to help.

My involvement with sports and athletics continued through college, yet in a different capacity. Without participation in true team-based competition, I began to change my focus towards helping others. Through personal training and group fitness, I found a passion that would soon serve as the foundation for my most recent endeavor… Becoming a chiropractor!

Soon after college I set west to Colorado. While appreciative for the endless powder skiing and 14k’ adventures I encountered, this is where I developed my interest in chiropractic healthcare.

Just a few years later, I began my chiropractic education at Northeast College of Health Sciences in Seneca Falls, New York. During my time there, I was able to bridge my interest in sport and fitness with the world of manual therapy. I served as a student representative for Motion Palpation Institute and Rehab2Performance, two organizations that helped craft my approach to treatment.

The juicy, personal details…

A fter receiving my Doctorate in Chiropractic, I moved back home to Plattsburgh, New York where I joined Dr. Mulholland at Ideal Athlete Chiropractic. I am joined by my partner and our four-legged adventure animal, Oliver!

When I’m not in the office, you’ll be sure to catch me on the mountain or on the links trying to avoid the infamous greenside bunkers.

I look forward to working together. Let’s get started!
